Hello everyone I have an ADDON you may be interested in...
The ECT Google Base Product Lister
You can get listed on Google faster than ever, and have your content positioned in other Google services such as Froogle and Google search at the same time! This addon for the ECT cart will create an XML compliant file for submission of your products to the new Google Base program.
Who is this ADDON for? This is what Google has to say...

It is extremely easy to install...ANYONE can do it. But for those who don't want to...let me know, I can help.
This is an ADDON, not a MOD.
MOD vs ADDON ?
A MOD (modification) is a change in the templates integrity and potentially will affect all future upgrades/updates released by ECT. An ADDON is a coded component that extends the existing functionality of your ECT without affecting its integrity. Addons have absolutely no impact on the templates ability to update or upgrade.

The Google Base Product Lister version 5.1 has been released.
This release is ONLY available for users upgrading to post v5.4 ECT carts.
as it uses the core ECT changes made in the v5.4 update.
Google Base now requires anyone who sells media with ISBN numbers to
include it in the feed. As of v5.4 ECT offers the SKU/ISBN feild on the product admin page. This addon uses this field to allow those stores to conform to the new requirements.
v5.4 of ECT now incorporates a new manufacturer table that allows you to add the brand/manufacturer in the product admin as you add products with a drop down menu. This release of the addon will depreciate the pBrand field and use the new manufacturer table structure of ECT instead. No more need for CSV uploads!
I have included a script to migrate the pBrand field used for older versions of my Google Base addon to the new table and maintain the product <-> brand relationship with no rekeying effort on your part.
The admin module has been depreciated as there is no longer need
for CSV manipulation.
All purchasers of my Google Base Product Lister are eligible for the update to meet the new requirements at no additional cost. You may request your update by sending me an email with your order # and whether it is ASP or PHP.

The Google Base Product Lister version 5.0 has been released.
Google Base / Froogle is evolving and refining the feed requirements in order to get your store listed. This release addresses those optimizations, and depreciates some features, and now allows for VAT included prices.
I have also added a admin page that will aid in the Brand updating process.
This is a major update and requires additional installation steps. All purchasers of my Google Base Product Lister are eligible for the update to meet the new requirements at no additional cost.
Due to the features and requirements of this update support for this mod is limited to carts no older than ECT v5.0. As much as this may be disappointing to some, it is highly recommended that your cart is upto date due to evolving security issues and fixes that ECT has put in place.
You may request your update by sending me an email with your order # and whether it is ASP or PHP.

Just wanted to say that Mike's Google Base Product Lister is an outstanding AddOn. I use ASP and Sql Server and Mike had to modify the code for me as the same code for an Access DB does not work for Sql Server.
Mike kept at it until the code worked and I want to thank him for being so thorough. We kept testing and he modified the code based on my testing and finally came up with a working model.
Thanks Mike - for doing what others have not been able to do and that is get code like this working for sql server, for being thorough and for not giving up. I totally trust your code and I cannot say that about every developer.

I also purchased Mike's Google Base Product Lister. My ECT is ver 3.6 and Mike had to make changes due to my older database structure. It's easy to use and once uploaded, Google had my products displayed within 2 hours.
The Google Base Product Lister uses the ECT short product descriptions. So I have the long descriptions displayed on my web site, and edited short descriptions on Google Base. This is an advantage as you can tailor your descriptions for each purpose.
I'm going to experiment with my Google Base listings for maximum exposure. For example, a search for "Blue Widget" and "Blue Widgets" brings up very different results. I'm going to work both the singular and plural into each listing.
The real test will be to see how much traffic Google Base generates. As it catches on, I'm there to be found. I recommend Mike's addon.

Hi Cooper,
There are a few reserved characters in XML...the &, < and >. If you want to get around them, you can use their character entities. I have several products using the ampersand and that is how I did it.
I'm trying to put the entities here but they keep reverting to characters
- I forgot how to get around that

What do you mean by saying "and 2 hours later the products show up". How do you check that your products showed up? Manual search Google for a particular product? Or you just believe the info on Google Base?

Lately Google has been contacting most people using Google Base as to improve its service. It has been Beta for years now, and with the decision to remove Froogle feeds they have been tinkering with the requirements.
Depending on individual stores they have requested different changes to make your store listed that much better. It would be impossible for the addon to understand your product base, and adjust due to that. For example if you sell Books, Google Base will recommend the same thing you have recieved and hope that you could add the ISBN number for your products.
So with the variety of retail types and sellable goods they may ask for some unique information. I have made the addon to accomodate for the best balance of information available as standard ECT database availability, but there may be times where a customization could be made but not predicted.
