I wouldn't use an existing category as the catalog root but set up a new one and use that - put categories.asp as the Category URL.

No its not
if you choose to browse the categories and then select to view all products the url if you click any of these

« Previous | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Next »

is formed like this http://www.simplydoorsdirect.co.uk/products.asp?cat=11&pg=2

cat=11 instead of the seo friendly category name

Hi when you click all products from the category.asp page the page number links will behave as you are descriping as there are products from different categories within those links.

The system will not know what category name to assign page 2 or 3, but like I mentioned eariler when you drill into a particular category then page 2 or 3 will pickup the category name.
