I would like to show you guys what could be done by using the new CSS features with ECT, I personally think it is one of the best things they have done to ECT for years, I love the fact that I can control the layout without days and days of work that get messed up when i run an update.

Thanks ECT this is great, here is an example for you guys to see what i have done in a couple hours.

Hi Barry

That's very cool, and thanks for sharing. I'd love to showcase some of the css layouts people use with their permission and when 6.2 becomes more widespread maybe that's something we can set up.

You know you can change the buy button with css and give it a mouseover effect eg. http://www.ectdemostore.net/products.asp

This has been done using a Style Switcher which allows the user to Click a button and switch style sheets giving you more flexibility with layouts that a user may prefer.

The alternate layout is just a 5 minute makeover. Once I am complete the links will be little images and the layouts will be perfect.

Default Style (Layout)

Alternate Style (Layout 2)

Barry I guess the question is what is the easiest way to learn the css layout . Is there a good book, video or something else to help learn this language?

Hi,

A good source if you are looking to learn about CSS is
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

They cover most style properties with good examples to explain the classes.

Regards,

David

Thank you I ran across that site last night and it looked good but was not sure thank you.

By the way I like how you are coming up with the styles you have. Have you thought about mobile layouts?

Hi,

There are hundreds of resources out there to learn CSS, I am not sure if you are using Dreamweaver or Expression Web on your PC to edit your pages.

You could see if Total Training dot com has a video to help, perhpas lynda.com has some.

Mobile layouts will come with time. Thanks for the comment about the designs, the options areunthinkable of what can be done now to make your users experience good, plus making your store look unique and not like everyone elses.

Kind Regards
