Hi folks

You may have seen the thread here http://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=88730 with an excellent site running 6.2 and using responsive design techniques ( read more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsive_Web_Design ). At the end of the thread I said I'd given it a whirl and have now finished testing on devices I have available, and on this very handy online tool http://mattkersley.com/responsive/

I was hoping I could get some feedback here before moving onto another design. This is the current URL

http://www.ectdemostore.com/rpgadgets/default.asp

if you can let me know what device you used to view it and if you know the screen size / resolution that would be handy to include here.

If this works out well, it could be something we could release here. It does require a decent knowledge of css but I wouldn't say it's that tough to do, just a lot of testing and tweaking,

Cheers
Andy

Gave it a quick viewing with HTC Desire Android (I think the screen is 3.7-inch 480×800 resolution). The only problem I saw was that the cart page required horizontal scrolling.

Thanks Clive, may need to look into the image in cart / details column which is probably the cause.

Much appreciated!

Hi Andy,

It looks great on my iPhone 4. The cart page was only a hair off (2 characters, if that makes any sense.)

Thanks Fran, I made some tweaks yesterday so glad they worked ok, should be able to shave the last few pixels off too.

Andy do you feel this is possibly going to come as an update down the road or sold as a new style template?

It may be sold as a new design. There are quite a few differences from the original. Hopefully it will use default store code from 6.2 though so it won't require an update from that version.

Andy,

Did you use the full CSS shopping cart for this? Can I adapt my current template to work, or would that be a ton of work. Would I be better off buying a new template?

Thank you

It's brilliant using CSS to detect narrow device and change header. Using the same site for mobile is a great idea and this is a great solution.

I would HOPE that this CSS or template would be available for DL or sale, esp. the code w/ instructions to implement this on any ECT site.

Thanks for the feedback and it seems there is some interest in this.

Consequently, I'm setting up a second design here

www.ectdemostore.net/eco/

I'm in early stages of testing but it seems to work quite well already.

This has now been tested in Firefox, IE9, Opera and Chrome as on the ipad, iphone and Android. I'd really appreciate it if people could take a look and keep quiet if they find any problems and let me know if there's anything amiss.

Hi Andy,

I love this and I hope you will add it to your line .

It looks and acts great on Safari (for Mac), but on my iPhone 4, I need to scroll horizontally - not too much, but enough to notice, on the cart page. And, the "message" box (gift certificate) runs off the side of the page.

Thanks Fran, I did forget about the gift certificate page on the phone, I'll sort that out somehow. The cart page looks fine on my Android, could you let me know which cart screen is causing the problem - is it the shipping and billing page?

Hi Andy,

It was the shipping and billing page, but now it appears fine!
