Hi, new here. Have ECT Css template for .asp - most current version, have SL hosting in place using access db for now and will up to sql and get dedicated SSL when go live.

A few questions - I have been doing my homework but still confused about some things and hope you can help or point me to the correct references:

cart.asp and checkout related:

A) I have or will have the mini cart on the site - left nav area:

Q. I want customers to bypass (NOT automatically be transported to the cart.asp shopping cart page - when a customer adds to cart from any page on the store. In other words, when the customer adds something to the cart I just want to see the mini cart having the information updated, and the ONLY time the customer would go to the cart page to see it would be if the customer actually "clicks" on the view cart or checkout buttons.

So how do I delete (don't think that would be a good idea though) or otherwise stop/prevent/hide whatever the code or function is that automatically takes the customer to the cart page.

B) On the cart page there is some text I want to change:

the verbiage: Press checkout to enter your customer and shipping information. Where to I change that. Is that in the language file that I have yet to explore...

Also, the "Continue Shopping" button on the cart page. In my template when I click on that it takes me back to the categories page. But I want it to take me back to whatever page I was just on. I put some js button on that page - but when I tested it the action brought me back to the redirect entry page - because I came to the page via 1 xxxxxx has been added to your order.

Please wait while we forward you to view the contents of your cart or click here.

my js button that says "go back to previous page" took me back to the redirect "please wait..." page. Will it help or make a difference to say I will be getting a dedicated SSL when I go live... anyway, how do I get them to be able to go back to the page they came from but not that redirect. (note: this may not be an issue if I can do A) above but just in case I would like to know how.

C: Still not clear/understanding at what point in the process a new customer gets a password. Do they have to actually set up an account first before check out to assign themselves a pw. (Don't really like new customers to have to create an account first before, or in order to, checkout.

To contrast, the cart I have now the user can check out as a guest, or on the checkout page (one page checkout) when entering billing/shipping address, shipping method, comments etc they can also fill in/ assign themselves a pw. If the email is already in the system it will let them know with a link to have the password sent to them. If they don't want to assign a password they can still continue to check out as a guest since the pw is optional and will not stop a customer from checking out. Very simple, easy and..."-)

Anyway, how does this work in ECT and is there a way to keep it simple and NOT have them need to create an account prior the actual checking out process or as part of the checking out process?

OK, I do have other questions but these are the big ones for now. Thank you ahead of time for what seems so far to be a nice way to go about building my site:-)

Hi

I think you'd want this change / addition to vsadmin/includes.asp http://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/ecommplus/parameters.asp#continue

actionaftercart=3

All the store generated language is in vsadmin/inc/languagefile.asp - any changes you make there should be copied into vsadmin/includes.asp so they don't get overwritten by updaters.

The customer login is up to you. You can disable it, you can allow customers to sign up with their own password / email address or you can sign them up yourself through the admin. These are the various tweaks available http://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/ecommplus/parameters.asp#custlogin and here's some help on the set up http://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/ecommplus/customer-login.asp
