I've been with one host with a dedicated server for a very long time but I am getting hacked more and more often. Mostly by spammers. The host is now having trouble finding the source of the spam which, of course, make's it rather difficult to fix. The tech support seems to waning or not as ambitious these days.
The biggest joke is a hacker from we "think" the Netherlands that was able to hack and put bad links on my primary domain so easily 4 times in 6 weeks) despite repeated very complex passwords , that I FINALLY had the host block ALL FTP ACCESS to my primary domain, by ALL I mean including me! That seemed to stop it as you might expect. But I'm blocked from using FTP on my own domain.
My problem is I don't know if I can beat the price ($149 monthly) and I want to use an America Company or at the very least an English speaking country.
Just wondered if anyone had any miraculous dedicated host they might recommend for PHP/MySQL, carts and static sites that might have SQL database involvement.
My guess is that my equipment is near ancient I've been with this firm so long. I don't think they really keep machines state of the art.
What I understand about "the Cloud" you could pack in thimble. I did check that out once and anticipated my costs would TRIPLE.
My server is currectly fully supported with 24/ 7 coverage.

Hi Joe,
I've been using Servelink for years.... and they are super! My site has grown over time and they have always been there for upgrades to my hosting package when needed.
You should check them out for hosting your site. They are in CA.
(No affiliate here, I just really love Servelink!)

Hi,
Have you thought that maybe it is not your provider but the configuaration of your server, I have dedicated servers through Fast Hosts (I think they are only UK based) however I have a server guru who has looked after my servers for 6 years now and that is the key, you have to have someone experienced managing your server, because a layman like me cannot manage a server.
I am a designer so I leave that side to the guys who know what they are talking about, maybe Servelink can offer you a management service if you have a dedicated server.
