I assume that ECT is responsive but could not see any signs of this.

Am I correct?

Thank you
John

Hi

It depends on the actual design you are working from but the software itself is mobile friendly.

I am as you can guess working initially on the software. I did a search for viewport in the code but cannot see it anywhere.
When I shrink the width of my browser it is not collapsing as would a mobile friendly page..

Can you please tell me how I go about making the pages Mobile Friendly.

Thanks John

I believe you are working from the Generic Version https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/design.asp - that's used to integrate the shopping cart into an existing design. If that design is responsive, the software behind it will also be mobile friendly. The Generic Version comes with no real design of its own, it's just placeholding really as the include lines are copied and pasted into another theme or template.

Are you using the Generic Version as your store rather than another design?

Does that make a difference?
I am assessing if I wish to use ECT in future on other stores.

Are there various options to bring the generic version up to the standard for a finished store.

If so can you please list these.
Thanks

It does make a difference and was the reason I asked. If you are adding the cart to your own design, the mobile friendliness depends on that design as the software is responsive ready.

If you plan on using the Generic Version as the base of your design because it's an older version, the design itself isn't responsive. Having said that, we did change that since you originally purchased so depending on your plans with the design, send me an email and we'll see what can be done.

Thank you Andy so much for this latest help. It is very much appreciated!
I have already made some good progress so that's a relief.

I have been watching the uTube video How to integrate the Generic PHP Version into an existing site and looked in the files for the asset.txt file but cannot see this in the files.

Would you please send this file to me unless of course it is hidden away in the files.

Is there a way to use the DWT file(s) that are used on the main site in the cart files.

Regards
John

There isn't a dwt file for the Generic Version as it's not used for a third party design.

Thanks Andy
I think I understand that OK. It means the cart will have its own look. Is that correct?

The other thing was the assets.txt file I cannot find this. Can this be sent?

Your working late!!

I'm pretty sure there's no file called assets.txt in the software - where did you see reference to that?

There is a folder called assets in vsadmin which has .js files.

Thanks for the replies:

If you go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=xuoYd92OfCY you can see assets.txt second file down in the file list.

Title of the tutorial:

The logic is still exactly the same and really the process hasn't changed.

The help file is here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/design.asp#generic2 with printer friendly instructions at https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/printer/generic-php.htm

Also remember that as now I believe you are working from a newer version make sure you have these two lines somewhere before the the closing </head> tag

<script type="text/javascript" src="js/ectcart.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/ectcart.css"/>
