Is it possible to make a animated gif work as a product picture?

Hi Steven
To the cart it would just be treated as any other product image. Are you having problems?

It works in the body of the description, but not in the product pictures.

Here is where I tested it.

Hi, when I view that product, the image is a .jpg file

Have you tried it with the .gif image?

Hi Steven, are you uploading this via the admin?
If so, how about try to FTP the image and insert the image path (url) in the field...

Thanks, that worked. Any thoughts on getting it to work in the admin?

I don't want to have to worry about the people working for me, making a mistake on the server.

Hi Steven, I can't be sure why the upload utility isn't working with animated .gif images, but I expect Vince can shed some light and it's likely he will see this post and reply.

Hi Steven
I just tried here with an animated GIF and it seemed to go ok. Are you resizing the images on upload? And is this in the admin products page through the ECT image manager / upload or through Froala?

Vince im uploading in the admin products area using the ect image manager and resizing.
When I upload, and not resize it works fine, its when I resize that its removing the Gif formatting.

Hi Steven
In that case it sounds like it is the PHP imagick library messing things up and that could be difficult to resolve unless there are more up-to-date versions of PHP available in your hosting control panel. Are there going to be lots of animated gif's that need resizing or is this going to be a rare occurrence?

There wont be many. I can resize them locally and have them uploaded in the admin.
