Hello there!

It seems to be a thing more lately where my customers want order confirmation and update messages to go to more than one email account. This is especially true for wholesale accounts. I can send these messages with a manual work-around, but I find it hard to remember to do this.

My shipping software allows multiple email addresses if the addresses are separated by commas. Is this an option in the shopping cart? If so, what is the correct separator to use between addresses?

Many thanks! --DeeAnna

Hi DeeAnna, I usually tell these customers we can old send to one email address and they would need to forward it on.
I do understand though, that each business is different.

I have successfully used two email address on an order, separated by a comma and both received the email.
However, being that the client accounts use the email address to login, I expect it's not going to work with two email address in a client account.
I suppose there is no harm in testing it, but if it works, your client would need to use a login like email1@someplace.com,email2@someplace.com and I think the formula for validating email address is going to prevent that form working.

Perhaps your client can create an email address that forwards to the proper addresses.
vendors@someplace.com they have set to forward to email1@someplace.com,email2@someplace.com
Again, to me, this is more "their" problem and not the sellers.
However, I can appreciate your willingness to accommodate your customers.

Thanks,
David

My larger wholesale clients typically want one email to go to the buyer and one to accounting. Most of the buyers we deal with in these companies aren't allowed to deal with IT issues -- I'm afraid asking them to set up an email that forwards notifications to the proper people isn't an option.

So far I've just muddled along with a "can do!" smile and a manual work-around. It's nice to know there really is a better option.

I have a master login and do all the order entry for these accounts, so I've got the login issue solved. I agree it could be a problem if I allowed customers to have their own accounts, however.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I'll give the comma a try. --DeeAnna
