Hi all,

My client is having issues with checkout where the customer cannot add an address. Can you let me know what the issue may be? Is there a setting I need to update to get this to work?

Thank you,
Eddie

Hi Eddie, I think we would need more information.
Are they logged into an account and need to add an address?
Are they not seeing the address entry fields?
Are the address fields showing and they cannot type in them?

I can think of more questions too, so is this something you have been able to recreate?
If not, can you ask the client/customer for more details or a screen capture of the issue?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Apologies for not clarifying. When an order is placed and you go to checkout. The "Please enter your customer details." tab does not drop down so you cannot add your information to proceed with the order. I am using Ecommerce Plus PHP v7.6.5.

Thank you,
Eddie

That sounds like a js (javascript) issue.
You can right click and select "inspect" to view your browsers console to see any errors, or provide a link here, or in your profile if you prefer, so we can take a look.
Was this working and stopped?
Have you recently updated, or made any changes?
Are the store pages correctly linked to the ectcart.js file?

Thanks,
David

Hi,

So it appears if I only choose the United States of America as the only option for shipping, the drop down menu does not work. How do I work around that to get the enter address details to work?

Thank you,
Eddie

Have any states been enabled in the admin?
I suppose if no states are enabled, you might get this scenario.
Is this a new store setup?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Yes, the states have been set up and are active. I added another US territory (Puerto Rico) and the menu now works.

Thank you,
Eddie

Hi David,

I still have issues with adding the address to checkout. I do not know how to keep the dropdown to stay on "Please Select" so it will display the areas to add your address info. How do I set the default to Please Select"?

Thank you,
Eddie

Hi Eddie, is this the site in your profile?
If so, it seems to be working correctly.
If it's a different site, please provide a link, or add it to your profile, or click my name and message it to me and I'll take a look.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

The website with the issue is this one: https://www.deadlyobsessions.com/

Thank you,

Hi Eddie
It looks like you do have the /js/ectcart.js file referenced but it's in the page footer, so items that come before it don't yet have the functions defined. This needs to go in the head section of the pages.

Hi Vince,

I think that did the trick. Thank you! Should I place the .js to the top of every page as well?

Thank you,
Eddie

Yes, you should put it in the head section on all pages.
