We have just recently moved one of our Ecommercetemplates based website from a Shared Hosting environment to a Managed Virtual Private Server.

With 2 GB internal memory. Now we experience availability problems and our hosting provider says this is because the 2GB internal memory is not sufficient for hosting our ASP website.

Memory in a virtual server is the most expensive part so we want to know how much memory is actually needed for hosting a ASP based Ecommerce Templates website?

Would love to get some guidelines and experiences from other users.

A web server isn't really that resource hungry, but 2GB is the absolute minimum for the 64 bit version of windows. Really, I wouldn't be thinking of using Windows these days with less than 4GB.

Might be our hosting provider underestimated the amount of resources needed for Windows.

For some days the site is now been running with 4 GB memory and no errors have occurred since this addition.
