Seems to be a lot of confusion over changing sites fully over to https. Not everyone is doing it.

I am just doing some research first before fully doing my site. I notice at the moment that that some people are entering my site under both http and https as google has indexed my site with a mix. I do have an ssl certificate so ok with that.

The problem is some of my links. The design of the site has been mainly developed using relative links but seems to make no difference with setting the store url from http to https. this only effects the mini cart url to my checkout but I would also like to make this relative, how do I do this?

I have currently set all my navigation links as example ../bedroom-furniture.php so they are relative and stay consistent to the users browser viewing either in http or https Any links back to my home page are also ../ left blank

Hi

I think most stores, certainly major stores but even smaller ones, are forcing users on to https and I think that is the way to go now really. Have a look at the thread here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=106851 particularly regrading the changes you need to make to the .htaccess file as you are running a PHP store.

Using relative links is fine and will keep people on https

Hi Andy,

Is the also a way I can make the mini cart navigation relative to the cart page ../cart.php

This area seems to be controlled by the url set in the admin control panel which I have as http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk at the moment I want people to stay consistent with all the links as most people currently land on my site as http which is fine as my payment gateway moves them off my site into https when they pay, so I currently don't mind how they browse my site just so long as its consistent when they are on it

You can't do that but really if you switch to https your Store URL will also use https and that question is sorted out.
