After I make a test purchase to get to the thanks page, or shipping information, or any page like that, I view source and copy the information then save it as an .htm page so I can test layouts and so forth without having to work live. You may have to manually adjust links to CSS and images, but it is a lot easier, I think, then keep getting order emails or placing test orders.
NOTE: If the page is part of a dynamic web template, when you copy and paste the source code, remove the tags START TEMPLATE and END TEMPLATE before saving the page so it does not automatically attach itself to the template. That will make it more difficult to experiment with it.
