Hi Guys,

There seems to be a problem with the wordpress plugin for homepage products.

If I set the homepage product to "latest products" the products returned are NOT the most recently added.

I'm using PHP 5.6.31 and wordpress 4.9.7

any ideas?

I will need to test that out but the functionality there hasn't changed for quite a while so it's odd that it's suddenly not returning recent products.

I should also say that plugin was developed before we had things like quickbuy, detaillink, random display etc and the cross selling is now probably a more flexible way of adding products to the home page https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/home-page-display.asp

I tested that out here http://ectwp.com/plugins/#home and set it to latest products, then listed the products in the admin (Sort Date DESC) and the order is exactly the same - are you getting different results?

Hi Andy,

it was displaying products that were orphaned and products that were added years ago.

Setting it to display from a selected category returned no results at all.

Is it possible it's not compatible with the latest version of wordpress?


Can I have 'latest products' using the cross selling feature you mentioned?

When I checked the plugin I saw that wordpress is running the latest version, it's set to update automatically so that wouldn't be it.

There isn't a specific feature for recent products in the cross selling but if you list them in the admin as Sort Date (Desc) you can choose "Recommended" for the first ten or so in the list and do it that way.

Is it possible new columns were added to the products table for 6.9.3? (and that causes the issue?)

Can you explain the format of that line for me? I don't understand which section defines the column it chooses to sort on.
