Customer photo upload for personalised product?

Is there any way to do this via the ECT order process? I thought I'd seen a file upload somewhere but can't find it. If not, any workaround suggestions welcome! The only way I've thought of is to put something in the order email like 'If your item requires a photo, please email it to us' - but photo will only be for a few products so I'd prefer not to do this if possible.
