Search Engine Journal article 17 April 2019:
"Popular WordPress plugin Yoast is releasing an update which offers complete implementation of Schema.org markup.
What makes this a first-of-its-kind update is that it solves two problems:
> It makes Schema.org implementation easy
> It cleans up the “fragmented mess” created by most Schema implementations"

When running your webpages through the Google Structured Data Testing Tool, do you wonder why some pages now return Errors and Warnings?
In recent times Schema.org has (unfortunately) grown their list of itemprops in most itemtype categories, thus making implementation far more complex and difficult.

The Yoast SEO Plugins for Wordpress are not free, but do look to provide a clever and effective solution.
There is an example page to look at where you can see that all Rich Snippets are generated in JSON format and inserted into the <head> of the webpage.

Project Supremacy is another popular Wordpress plugin for generating JSON Schema.

Hi Gary,

have you tested this against an ECT product page?

I currently have about 8 missing fields (warnings only)

cheers
Ross

Hi Ross,
Yes, I have tested Ecommerce Templates product pages.
Yes, we now get various warnings.
There is a post about missing schema data here >>

In my opinion some warnings are nonsense, others questionable as to why those extra itemprops have been added recently, especially when that data does not appear in Search Results.
Warnings do not carry any rank penalty.

If Ecommerce Templates were to revisit the method by which Structured Data is implemented, then perhaps they may take the same approach as Yoast and Project Supremecy; generate JSON code in the <head>.

Hi Gary

It might be an idea to put this in the Suggestions forum as it has now come up a couple of times. I think you're spot on with your appraisal of warnings and their effect on search listings.
