Hi,

I have a customer querying the breakdown of an order and I can't work it out either...
The total final price is correct but the Total and VAT seem wrong.

I have country tax (VAT) set to 20%
$showtaxinclusive=3;
$taxShipping=0;
$taxHandling=0;
when entering prices in admin I add the full price inc VAT (in this case £20)

I'm using v7.02

Here's a screenshot:

Hi Steve

I'll test that out here and see what I come up with.

Hi Andy,

Actually I think this is correct, I'm just not thinking about the maths properly.

The tax is 20% on top of the price [red]excluding VAT[/red]

So 16.67 x 1.2 = 20

or

20 / 1.2 = 16.67

Sorry for the confusion. Maths was never my strong point!

Steve

It doesn't seem quite right when a discount code is used though:

In this case a 20% discount was also used.

Any idea how this calculation worked Andy?

Shouldn't the order total be 30 and the VAT 6?

That looks fine to me. The sub total (ordet total) is before the discount and the vat with discount applied to the product total.

But...

With no discounts if the item costs 45

Order Total: 45/1.2 = [red]37.5[/red]
VAT at 20%: 7.5

Once the discount is applied though, the Order Total seems to go UP to [red]39[/red]
This seems to be because the VAT has gone DOWN to 6

Although the sum adds up, I don't understand how the Order Total can go up once a discount is applied.
That doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Apologies for this Andy, I'm sure it's making your head hurt as much as mine

The order total is the sub total without the 6 pounds VAT.
