Hi, in the Prod Admin, when adding a new product. Do you use both the
Reference and SKU fields for the Product ID number? so it shows up in the
cart at checkout? thanks in advance

Hi dano2

The reference field is internal only and does not show on the public facing website. The SKU field is best completed as that forms part of the structured data. Also do not use quotes or spaces in the field Reference.

Mike Beebe @ DLSS has an ECT addon available - http://www.dlss.ca/proddetail.asp?prod=ProductSchema

Actually that reference is the product ID, and it might show up, but you can decide. That's the product ID in the list of items you can show on the page.
Of course as Steve mentions, it would not show if you don't have that in the list.
But I think it does show in checkout unless you are showing product images there.

$detailpagelayout='navigation, checkoutbutton, productimage, productid, manufacturer, sku, productname, discounts, instock, description, listprice, price, quantity, currency, dateadded, options, addtocart, previousnext, emailfriend, reviews, socialmedia';

ok thanks guys. I am adding my Product Item Code number to both fields just in case, not that much extra work. Should
that be ok to do?

Also, this may help ...

SOLUTION to Google Structured Data WARNING for Product:
This product is missing a global identifier (e.g. isbn, mpn or gtin8)

ADD this entry to includes.php

$skuschemaidentifier="mpn";// New v7.1.1
