I have set tax to shipping with $taxShipping=1;

However, it displays the shipping and tax together. ($42 = shipping 40 + tax $2)

Is it possible to display the tax $2 on the real tax line.
tax $7 + $2 = $9

I think you need to look at what you have the $taxShipping parameter set to for this...

I think in your case you want to set...
$taxShipping=2;
