Hi,

When I dump my mailing list from admin and then try to upload to SendInBlue I get the following error:

'The imported file's code is not supported. We mainly support UTF-8 as a file encoding format. Please save your files in UTF-8 and try again.'

Any idea why the downloaded file is not in an acceptable format?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve, have you checked on the required format with SendInBlue? It could be the header row for example, or perhaps the date format.
You may need to modify the file for it to work with SendInBlue.
Back in my early days of using mailchimp, I had to make changes to the file for it to work.
I think it's more likely something like that and not really the encoding, but that's a possibility.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Yes, that was my thought as I don’t often encounter encoding problems.
Bizarrely I’m moving from Mailchimp where it worked to SendInBlue so wasn’t expecting that.
I’ll take a closer look at the file, as you suggest, when I get a moment.

So I have found the issue:

The dumped list use Full Name as a heading whereas SendInBlue wants FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME

I can cheat it by changing the Full Name header to FIRSTNAME which is not ideal...

The bigger question I now have though is why isn't ECT collecting the email First & Last names seperately - I can find no way to do that?

It is possible to convert your cart to use first name - last name separate, but I am not sure if that will change how email addresses are collected.
But there are tricks out there to separate those into two columns.
So you may not need to do much to make it work.
Thanks,
David

Hi David,

The cart is actually already set to $usefirstlastname=TRUE; so it looks as if the mailing list works differently and is collecting full names with no option to change.
Thanks for your help but I think this is one I probably need to flag in the suggestions.
