I have a few seemingly random instances where the new Paypal integration gave us a customer phone number of: xxx-xxx-xxxx in both the shipping and billing columns.
I have confirmed that we DO have our PayPal account setup to demand a phone number on orders. I pulled up those orders in Paypal and there IS a phone number listed there.
I don't have much more to go on right now. I only have 3 examples in the last 1 week of orders, so it isn't a common issue.
It's not as critical for us because we are able to find a phone number so far if we need one - but it would be better for customer service guys to have that without needing to log into Paypal.
Hi Graham Have you managed to talk to any of these customers to see if there is anything in common . . . for instance do they all use the Express checkout flow?

I have to say that would have been my first guess.
I think you're correct, those (I THINK) are customers who clicked the PayPal button before moving through our CART.asp pages.
That said, I only have the new Paypal integration activated. Is Paypal sending that Phone number data back and we are just not saving it to database with that integration?
Hi, on our PayPal Express Checkout test orders we're seeing both the Billing and Shipping phone fields in the Orders Admin appear as "xxx-xxx-xxxx" until the order is completed through PayPal.
After payment is completed we see "xxx-xxx-xxxx" as the Shipping phone on both customer acknowledgements and in the Order Admin.
A screen shot of the Thank You page is below. There's concern that this looks odd enough that it could result in service calls.
