I was using PayPal Express and upgraded now this has happened:
PayPal Express Payment DEPRECIATED and crossed out.
I just read your reference page. And tried it but it is not simple at all! I already have a paypal account and they want all kinds of set up information including my EID . I already have an account with them and just need to link my paypal account. I dont need all this marketing junk.

Hi Charmarsh It's not normally so difficult so maybe you are not going through the correct setup. If you go to the ECT Admin -> Payment Providers page on the first page there you should see the setup wizard and just click on "Link Account". You probably don't want to click the "Accept Cards" as that is for the PayPal Advanced and you can still accept cards through PayPal if you like. Then normally it's just a case of logging in to your PayPal account, clicking on the agreement and you should get taken back to the store and all should be done. If that's what you are doing, can you let me know where your flow differs? Vince Click Here for Shopping Cart SoftwareClick Here to sign up for our newsletterClick Here for the latest updater

I went through all the steps. And the PayPal button seems to be working. However, I now get a notice at the top of my admin page that says "PayPal Standard, PayPal Direct Payments and PayPl Express are now no longer supported by Pay Pal. - Click here to Update to PayPal Checkout." (Button)
I dont want to override my credit card option and I dont want to have to go through all the sign ups again. Should I click on this button?

Hi Charmarsh If you go to the payment providers admin page and click on "see full list of payment processors" then which ones do you have active now? PayPal Checkout is just the new, all singing and all dancing upgrade to the old PayPal Express, PayPal Direct and PayPal Standard integrations and you can use a mix of card payment, paypal account, local payment methods and now Google and Apple Pay. (You can configure all these in the Settings page for PayPal Checkout.) But it sounds like you have both the new and old methods active. We used to have PayPal Payments Pro or Payflow Pro(for credit cards) and PayPal Express (for paypal direct button).
That is what we still want to have.

Hi Charmarsh If you enable PayPal Checkout (as you have I believe) and then click on the settings for PayPal Checkout there is an option, "PayPal Express: Add PayPal Express Checkout". This is the new, 100% up-to-date, all singing, all dancing version of PayPal Express and the idea is that you enable PayPal Express through PayPal Checkout and not through the old Payments Pro which is no longer supported. Likewise PayPal Direct Payments is replaced by the "Advanced Cards" and if you click on the "Accept Credit Cards" checkbox in the connection wizard then that is enabled. (Though you can still accept cards through the non-Advanced flow.) Vince Click Here for Shopping Cart SoftwareClick Here to sign up for our newsletterClick Here for the latest updater

Did someone summon me? To add an image on the forum here, you need to have the image online somewhere, and link to it. I usually put them on my server, in a folder marked "forum" so I know what those are doing there, later on. There are shortcut icons right there above the textarea when making a post. 4th from the right is the image icon and clicking it will create the tags to insert an image. Insert the URL of the image and it will show here on the forum. It will look like this - but without the spaces in the tags... Sorry Vince/Dave, I did the steps like this: The first one as it showed. The second one is where I set it up as you said. But it was not easy. It had me go through all kinds of information like setting up a new account. After I completed that this next image is what I see now when I go to my orders page. However when I test the store I can checkout both ways, credit card and paypal without any trouble. Should I click on the link that says to update? Or leave well enough alone?

Hi Charmarsh quote: But it was not easy. It had me go through all kinds of information like setting up a new account.
As you are using PayPal Express already you have to have a PayPal account associated with that and that, (I would imagine) is the account you want to use so you shouldn't have to create a "new" one, rather just use the login for this one. It may be that you aren't actually creating a new account however, just agreeing to new terms on your current account but in any case, maybe if you get in touch with PayPal support they could clear that up? But the account you use in the setup wizard should be your actual account which has your PayPal balance. quote: However when I test the store I can checkout both ways, credit card and paypal without any trouble.
That sounds good, but make sure you disable the old PayPal Express by clicking on "Modify" in that first image page and uncheck "Enabled" save that. quote: Should I click on the link that says to update? Or leave well enough alone?
All that link does is take you to the PayPal Checkout Wizard. It doesn't change anything so it doesn't matter if you click it really. Dave . . . I mean Vince Click Here for Shopping Cart SoftwareClick Here to sign up for our newsletterClick Here for the latest updater

I dont understand why I should disable paypal express. Then then there will no longer be a paypal button in my cart. I want customers to be able to choose either their own paypal account or their credit card.
