It seems the software deleted orders all on their own.

These were orders I told buyers to enter with bogus credit card information so I'd have the order data and product and would manually enter shipping then process the order.

This is what I had to do with the UPS shipping BS which WILL lead me to dumping ECT and going elsewhere.

Meanwhile, I cannot get to that data because it no longer exist. So, what is it in your most recent update that caused more than a dozen orders to delete?!?!

Hi Ken, the only way (I can think of) orders will remove themselves, is if they are in unauthorized status and even then, they will not delete unless you have set a time period in Admin>Main settings>Order Management>Delete after

Check to see what you have set there.
Running an update would not randomly delete orders from your database.
Perhaps you had these orders sitting in unauthorized status.

Thanks,
David

I did not set such a point. So, did the update automatically insert one?

My background is accounting. You NEVER delete. Mark it cancelled, reversed or whatever. But, NOT deleted.

Regardless, I lost information that was never intended to be lost.

Have you tried to restore a database backup?
Many hosts have regular backups and perhaps that will work.
Thanks,
David

The update was made in December. The data lost was subsequent to the update and backup.

Where is the setting to NOT delete anything?!?!

Hi Ken, sorry to hear of this.
If you set "Would you like to delete uncompleted orders?" to "never" here - Admin>Main settings>Order Management>Delete after
No orders should be auto deleted ever.
However, that does not stop another person who might have access to your admin, from deleting orders.

Thanks,
David

I've set that.

I've never been into that setting.

There was data for at least six orders that I've now lost. One order was over $1400 for a new customer. I no longer have any means of contacting them.

If updates are altering that setting, I highly recommend changing whatever is there is causing it to happen.

There is nothing in the update that affects this setting and nobody else to my knowledge has any problem with this. There are settings in the ECT Admin -> Main Settings -> Order Management page to delete uncompleted orders but that hasn't changed in decades.

Wasn't this just that you had to get the new login credentials because UPS has changed their API?

I had not done anything regarding UPS at that point.
