I am trying to use weight based shipping for all the USA, but then use either UPS or USPS for any place outside of the USA.

The weight based is working just fine for USA.... however, if anyone tried to place and order for the UK or other international addresses they get a state error.

In the admin, I seem to have a problem with how my zones are set or states?

If I try to edit and order from the admin, and I choose the shipping estimator, works fine for USA, but International I get select state...., there is no state to select, so i get and error and shipping is not computed. Invalid Origin for UPS and USPS

I updatde the store to 7.9.4 and added defaultshipstate="OH"
upspickuptype="01"
shiporiginstate="OH"
nonusastates=TRUE
to my includes, but still no fix

Vince, could you take a look at my admin login if I send you my login credentials and see if maybe I just have something not configured correctly.

Site is beanbag.com/wjsails.htm

Hi Scott
It seems you had the USA set to not load states and in that case it shouldn't force you to select a US State and I'll investigate that. But I've set it to load the states and can you check if that cures the problem?

Still have the problem. Unfortunately, the test you did was on an item that has free shipping, so your test did not see the problem.

If you try to edit and order and have it compute shipping internationally you get UPS Logo

UPS Shipping
Invalid Origin.

USPS Logo USPS Shipping
Please choose a shipping option

Tries this on the last order for paul gutteridge 7486 as he emailed saying he could not get shipping to work for England

Hi Scott
Ok, I got it this time and UPS really did think your origin is invalid but there is a workaround. Can you try now and see if it is all ok?

Vince,

Thank you. Seems to be working for the customer now. Awesome.

However, it still is not working in the admin... when you say
view invoices,
then go to Edit invoice
then click the calculate button next to the shipping amount, a pop box opens, and here international shipping rates still same no origin state for UPS and I think USPS

Not a big deal. It was the customer side of things which you fixed, I was most concerned about.

This edit invoice part maybe just an update down the road sometime... not uragant in any means.

I posted about maybe the same issue just before this thread, on my thread here towards the end: https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=116436 and sent and email about at as well.

Vince, just to clarify, is there an revised file I need to grab from the updater or how can I fix the UPS International problem?

So, what is the workaround to get UPS international going again?

I downloaded the newest files as of today and still get the same "invalid origin" as mrbeanbag was getting.

Hi Sparksm
I added the fix to the vsadmin/inc/uspsshipping.asp file in your site so can you try it now?

I am still getting invalid origin... not while I am placing an order, that seems to be working.

I get it when I go into the admin and say edit order. Then I click the calculate button next to shipping. If I try to get a UPS quote for international, I get Invalid origin and it gives me a list of USA states to choose from. This is a UK address so I cannot pick the correct state???

Vince, thank you. That now works for me. Both the customer side and the admin side work.

Would still like to explore disabling FedEx specifically for Canada if possible.

Hi Scott
If you've got a "hidden" vsadmin directory, have you added these parameters to the includes.asp file in that directory too?

upspickuptype="01"
shiporiginstate="OH"

I did have a hidden folder and i did not have those items.. but after adding them, I still get invalid origin on international USA works just fine
Even though I am computing an internation address, it asks for US State

State:
Please select US State
Zip:
B449HN
Country:
England

UPS Shipping

RES

UPS Logo UPS Shipping
Invalid Origin.

Hi Scott
OK, got it and it was my fault as I hadn't updated your hidden directory with the fix. Sorted now.
