UPS "Ground saver" option

This is for packages shipped within the USA. But it's not in our options. How do we add it? UPS Ground Saver (formerly known as UPS SurePost) is an economical, economy-level shipping service designed for lightweight, non-urgent residential deliveries. It lowers shipping costs by combining the UPS transportation network with final-mile delivery, which is sometimes handled by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).
dbdave ECT Moderator USA 10774 Posts	Posted - 08/31/2026 : 16:51:41 Are you setup with UPS to offer it? I know I had to do it with Surepost. Surepost is still in the admin as a separate UPS signup so I suggest go through that as that is what was there prior. I expect the terminology needs to be updated, and it may be that service needs to be updated. If you are setup to use it, give it a try with the Surepost setup. David
steven vaccaro Ecommerce Template Guru USA 1169 Posts	Posted - 09/01/2026 : 04:45:07 I am set up for it and its tested and working with ups. Thanks for the info on surepost in the admin area. I figured that was old and ground saver would be in the ups section now. I will give it a try.

I spoke to my ups acct manager and its live on their end and he said its not integrates directly into with their other services. So he wasnt sure why we would need a surepost login. Vince can you help out with this?

Once you've applied the updater you will need to go to the ECT Admin -> Shipping Methods page for UPS to enable the Ground Saver options. All the changes are in the updater and you need to run the updatestore.php file too. UPS Ground Saver will appear as a separate shipping method as did SurePost before as you can't get rates for both Ground Saver and regular UPS shipping options together. UPS Ground Saver is not listed as an option. All I am getting as options is UPS Ground, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air Save, and Next Day Air. Vince Administrator 43500 Posts	Posted - 09/30/2026 : 08:43:44 Hi Marshall Ground Saver is a separate shipping method so you have to select it in the ECT Admin -> Main Settings -> Shipping & Handling Settings page either as the Shipping Type or as one of the Alternate Rates. It would be great if rates for Ground Saver came back with the other UPS shipping options but it seems this isn't how it works.
