I checked my orders for the day and the first several orders are normal, but the rest of them show free ($0.00) shipping just for USPS. I haven't made any changes to the website in weeks, and I am unable to figure out what is going on with it. I can't provide free shipping on these orders, but I cant turn USPS off either as the majority of my customers select USPS for shipping. I can only assume that the issue is with USPS, but I am definitely open to suggestions?

Admin> Main Settings > Store Settings > Enable XML / JSON request Logging: turn that on an place a few test orders - see if you can replicate the issue. The api send and receive data will be logged in your Activity Log so you post back to let us know what you are getting there.
Once you have done testing, until that feature as it can slow your site down with all of the logging.
Thanks, David

David,
Thanks for the quick response. I turned on the Enable XML / JSON request Logging and made a few test purchases. I'm not completely sure which of these logs are related to my test purchases, but below is a copy/past of my Activity Log over the past several minutes:

Just found this via Google search:
"If your e-commerce store is suddenly returning $0.00 for USPS shipping rates, it is almost certainly a result of recent major technical changes made to the USPS API infrastructure or the rate adjustments that took effect yesterday (September 19, 2026)
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Well that's alarming and unexpected. I suppose if that is a known issue, that's the problem you are having... The log entries you want are the ones to and from USPS. The apis.usps.com/oauth2 can be ignored as that one is just checking your credentials to be sure you are authorized to use the api. These - should show what was sent and/or received - https://apis.usps.com/shipments/v3/options/searchThanks, David

David, From what I can see, that USPS "API infrastructure or the rate adjustments that took effect yesterday" is most likely the issue here. I was using V 7.9.3 but when this happened I updated to the latest version 8.0.0, but that didn't fix the issue unfortunately. If this is the case however I am wondering why more people haven't posted(?) When I click on https://apis.usps.com/shipments/v3/options/search it brings up a lengthy text file. TBH is is all foreign to me but the first line reads {"pricingOptions":[{"priceType":"RETAIL"}],"originZIPCode":"23111","destinationZIPCode":"23111","packageDescription":{"weight":1.15,"length":1,"width":1,"height":1,"mailClass":"ALL","packageValue":6}} If you believe there might be an issue with the api I will be happy to send the text file in it's entirety?

It is the weekend and many store owners may not monitor their stores as closely over the weekend. The api response is what you want to look at, but only if it was a zero ship rate response - this might reveal the issue is coming from them. David

I sent a sample of the $0.00 API response rate to USPS support this evening. I am really hoping that they are already aware of the issue, and with any luck it will be resolved soon. If I receive a response from USPS, I will post it here asap.

Hey David!
As soon as I sent the last post I tried another test purchase and USPS returned rates! I'm not usually this lucky when it comes to things like this, but I'll certainly keep an eye on it and will post here if anything changes again. I'm think that the $0.00 return rates may have been some sort of propagation period with USPS, since the API adjustments were just implemented yesterday; or perhaps so many business owners complained that they resolved it already. Nevertheless I now have a lot of "splainin" to do to my customers that received free shipping today...
