I've used the Wordpress Tempera theme for years and I currently use the ECT Customized Home Page settings for my home page vs. the Tempera presentation page, but I would like to have a home page similar to the one in the Premium Responsive Design Monochrome ECT template for php/asp sites which has a header image, horizontal menu, a slider, products below that, and left column menu with ECT widgets and product category menu. I think it would be easier for customers to see all of this when they arrive at my home page vs having to click through to a different page. Is there a way to do this using a Wordpress template like Tempera?

Or on the ECT Customized Home Page is there a way to add a left or right column?

The ECT Home Page is just a convenient way to get a homepage up quickly. But you can have any home page you want with WordPress and maybe that is what you are looking for? For instance, if you want a home page slider then just get any slider plugin. Any homepage products can be replicated with the [ect_crosssell] shortcode too. I don't think it's actually possible to add the sidebar to the ECT Home Page as the layout for that is fixed.

Maybe that would work better for me than the pre-set home page, since I would like the slider images to be linked.

If I set up my own home page using the shortcode [ect_crosssell], how would I show new products? When I put [ect_crosssell] on the page, it shows bestsellers and I'd prefer it to show the newest products first, then maybe I could do a second group that shows best sellers.

I'll play with this and see what I can come up with.

No sooner than I posted, I went back and experimented with by changing the short code to [ect_products] and that add products to my home page and it also shows the sidebar! Maybe that's what I wanted!

I've got a custom home page set up that seems to have the things that I want. So now how do I get that page to appear as my home page?

I tried to go into the Appearance-Customize menu, but when I selected the new home page, it reverted it to the dynamic ECT home page template.
