I've set up a custom home page in Wordpress that has a slider, then cross-selling sections for recommended products and best sellers. I would really prefer it to show new products and bestsellers, but couldn't find a short code for 'new products'. The only way I could adapt it was to used the recommended short code, then I have to remember to check and uncheck products as I add new ones to the store so the 20 most recent show. They are just showing in random order, and I would like them to sort by most recent first. Is there some easier way to show new products on the home page and have them sort by 'date added'?

There wasn't support in the ECT Widgets plugin for the New Products Cross Sell feature but I've added it now. You need a new copy of ECT Widgets which is available here...

So now you can set a shortcode such as...

[ect_crosssell crosssellaction="latest" crosssellcolumns=3 cslatesttitle="Our Latest Products" csproductpagelayout="productimage,productid,productname,price"]

Please note there is also support for a crosssellcolumns parameter so you can set the number of products you want to display.

You need the vsadmin/inc/inccrosssell.php from one of the latest versions so can you try applying one of the latest updaters?

Thanks again, I updated the store to 8.0.0, and now the latest products are showing. Can I set the sort order from newest to oldest?

I'm afraid you can't as I didn't imagine that this could be a requirement. But what you can do is manually set the date added if that helps.

I must be doing something wrong or misinterpreting what you mean about adding the date manually because I changed the date on the first 20 products to one day prior to what they showed to see if they would re-sort and it did nothing. They are still just in a random order.

But adding the discounts did work!

I think I see what you are saying and the reason is that if you choose to display say 6 products, the oldest 6 will be selected from the database but there is no particular order that those 6 will be displayed.
