Is it possible to force a recommended product?

Here's the scenario: While we are already displaying Recommended Products on the Home page, when a product is added to the cart we'd like to recommend the purchase of a Cooler Pack to protect product quality when shipped to specific warm weather states (defined in Terms & Conditions, acceptance of which is required).

But if we just add the Recommended Products to the cart page, we'd like this Cooler Pack to appear first ... additionally, we would prefer NOT to list the Cooler Pack with the Recommended products on the Home page.

I suppose we could create relations between the Cooler Pack and all perishable products so at least THOSE products would recommend the additional purchase.

Does that make sense or do you have any better suggestions?

We have a number of meat packers and cheese makers that could benefit from the implementation of this concept ... we're just trying to figure out the best way to do it!

Thanks!

Hi Tim, it makes sense the only way I can see it working would be to setup a option on the item, that would force them to the detail page to select the cooler pack otherwise it would show as a recommended item on the home page and cart page. Also the option could be applied to other perishables.
