Hello, I know in this forum that several people have had this issue before but I must post our issue and hopefully, it can be resolved.

I have attached an image here with some orders from a particular day. As you can see this only happens with PayPal orders where they leave our site, pay at Paypal and come back.

If they use Paypal Pro it does not happen as they pay for everything at our site.

I would appreciate any advice and tips anyone can post here so I can try and resolve this issue.

Thank You

Hi

I see these orders are from July 4 - is this still happening on PayPal Standard orders or was just around that particular time?

This is happening every day thru PayPal Standard only. Direct and other forms are OK

In your PayPal admin can you check the URL you have for Instant Payment Notification, normally that would be in the form of

http://www.yourstoreurl.com/vsadmin/ppconfirm.php

Hello again. I just ftp in our site and ppconfirm is not in there which is surprising. I opened vsadmin and nothing. I don't ever recall going in there and deleting this.

How can I get this file again?

We are on version v6.8.5 of the cart. It still does reside under vsadmin correct? Also any change to code I need to be aware of?

Thank You

I should also mention I went into PayPal and added https://

Under IPN messages I have the following.

Receive IPN messages (Enabled)
Do not receive IPN messages (Disabled)

That is OK?

Sorry for all the replies but I need to make sure. Our site is only HTTPS when going to checkout. The rest of the website is just HTTP so I need to make sure that for the IPN settings it is OK to use https:// instead of http://

Yes, that's right - you should use https rather than http if your site is on https.

what about PPCONFIRM.PHP? I don't have that and I don't know why it's gone.

You need that. If it's gone AWOL just get a fresh copy from the updater and upload it to your vsadmin folder.

Is there anything in the code of that file that I need to change or is it a standard file used by the cart

It's a standard file present in every version of the cart, it should not be edited.

Anything else we can try?

Hi there
What you want to do now is try entering the following URL in your browser...
https://www.yourstoreurl.com/vsadmin/ppconfirm.php?ppdebug=tls
...obviously changing "yourstoreurl.com" for your store URL. Then let me know what it says on the page when you do that.
Also, do check that the vsadmin/ppconfirm.php script is still there as I do remember one of the hosts (godaddy?) deleted it on some sites for some reason.

Testing URL: https://ipnpb.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
RESULT: INVALID
This is a good/correct result as it shows that communication with the PayPal server was successful and the transaction was of course rejected as invalid.

That all looks good then. Have you got IPN's turned on in your PayPal account settings? And you do realize that this will only affect future orders, no old ones, no?

I think you'll find that this is Go Daddy's problem from the outset and reporting the issue to their support will be a waste of time.

I've had two clients who had exactly the same issue, I checked everything was as it should be and they both ended up moving to another host. Both sites gave the correct result with the test. Since the move they had no problems at all.
