I've had a few clients receive the following email from PayPal. Do you have any information on this at all? Apparently it'll be compulsory in Europe later this year. Dear xxxx, I hope this finds you well. I’m a Business Development Specialist at PayPal and I’m writing as I couldn’t reach you by phone earlier today. As a business accepting card payments, your online checkout will need to be upgraded to comply with PSD2, a new European Union directive that requires Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). The directive applies from 14 September 2019, but card issuers are working towards SCA by April so that their systems are fully operational by the deadline. What you need to do? Because you’re using a PayPal Pro solution to accept card payments on your website, you need to update your online checkout to meet card issuers’ PSD2 obligations. We strongly recommend you integrate, test and launch your new authentication processes as soon as possible. Missing the deadline could lead to declined payments. But don’t worry we’ve got your back.
