is there an easy way to find and delete email addresses that no longer function from the mailing list? When I send out newsletter many emails 'bounce' is there a way to find those and remove them before I consider moving the database into a new ecthosted store?

The only way really is by testing them. When we send out a newsletter we receive the bounced mail and then delete the mail from the list in the admin after checking that it's not just a change of address for example.
