We moved out php system from a windows server to a linux server, and we are now no longer able to send confimration emails (or any emails) from eCommerce Templates.
We are using smtp.office365.com to send mail from this server.
We are not having this issue with other software on the site (which is using swiftmailer, if that is any help).

The error is silent - the process does not error out or anything, no email is sent on completion of a purchase, no email is sent when trying to resend receipt. A success message shows on the screen, but no message is sent.

We have tried to a few different email accounts, none receive anything, no mails are in spam.

We have configured Store Admin -> Main /settings smtp service to use PHP Mailer, and all the setting appear to be correct, TLS, 587, smtp.office365.com, username, password.

We tried the fix shown here:https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/email-help.asp, but this did not do anything.
We are running v7.0.4

I think the best thing to do would be to set this parameter in your vsadmin/include.php file...
$debugmode=TRUE;
Then try sending an email. (The emailfriend is good for testing email. If you test with a purchase, remember emails are only sent once. If you refresh the page another email is not sent.)
What this will do is print debug information on the page about what caused any problems. Then copy and paste that information here.
Then take $debugmode out of your includes.php file or your customers may see debug.

I hope it is OK to jump on this thread as I have exactly the same problem, and have run the debug as suggested. I have verified the smtp details by setting up in Thunderbird and they work fine, have copy/pasted to ECT so am sure no errors. Here is the debug stuff, I have removed personal info. This test is from email friend but also not getting any order emails. I find email friend is a bit misleading as a test tool as it says 'Thank you, your recommendation has been sent.' whether it is sent or if there is an error (this can be easily reproduced by putting a wrong pw in the admin). We have ECT version 7.1.8.

Any suggestions please?

Ah. Having done the debug I think I figured it out.... it looks like in the main settings page, the 'email address' (receiving the email) and the 'smtp username' email address have to be the same. Tried that and it worked.
