Some of you may have noticed that the ECT WordPress templates had been taken offline for a few weeks while we gave them a major overhaul. Well now they are back... https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/wordpress.asp For now two of the themes, ECT WordPress ICE and ECT WordPress Blackstuff are online, but the great thing is that now you can download any of the themes you like to use with your Ecommerce Plus template as they are available for download here... https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/free_downloads.asp#wordpress So as the themes are brought back online over the next few weeks you can just download, install like any WordPress theme and switch between them. These new WordPress Templates are light years ahead of the previous versions.Now...
- You can easily switch between Regular, Extensionless and SEO URL's in the admin Main Settings page.
- You don't need to set a separate ECT database connection as the cart can use the WordPress database settings.
- All the theme settings have been brought into the WordPress Customizer so you can try stuff out and see what it looks like before publishing.
- The templates come with a Dynamic Home Page where creating the page is as easy as creating Posts in WordPress.
- You no longer have to create dozens of different pages for the cart.

- Install WordPress.
- Copy the vsadmin directory to your site.
- Copy the css/ectcart.css file to your site.
- Copy the js/ectcart.js file to your site.
- Add the following parameter to your vsadmin/includes.php file...
$GLOBALS['iswordpress']=TRUE;
- Download and copy one of our WordPress themes to your site.

The WordPress Demos have now been updated with the new versions. http://ectwp.com/ectwpblackstuff/ http://ectwp.com/ectwp-ice/ http://ectwp.com/ectwpgear/ Can I also say a HUUUUGE great big thank you to Phil @ Bettapages for his help in making sure these new setups are as bulletproof as possible. https://www.bettapages.com/ Phil has been setting up sites and doing custom work with Ecommerce Templates for well over a decade now so knows the cart inside out and is a great choice if you ever need anything done that you can't handle yourself. Do remember that you can try these themes out and if you don't like how it looks, go back to your original theme. We are getting together some Child Themes for popular WordPress Themes and you can download these for free here... https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/downloads.asp?dlid=wpchildthemes#wpchildthemes You can use these on any Ecommerce Templates site that has WordPress. All you need to do is... 1. Copy the files from the above download to your site 2. Add this parameter to your vsadmin/includes.php file: $GLOBALS['iswordpress']=TRUE; 3. Install the parent theme that you wish to use. For instance, if you wish to use Hueman, then you will need to also install the Hueman theme in WordPress. 4. In the WordPress -> Appearance -> Themes page you should now see the parent theme plus the Child, for instance Hueman Child Theme and you need to activate the child. The rest of the instructions are the same for all wordpress templates but you will not have the ECT Editable Home pages. These themes behave like any other WordPress theme so you can switch between them whenever you like while still maintaining your menus and content. There has been an important update to the WordPress Child Themes as they will now automatically add Title tags and Meta Description tags to the cart pages based on product and category information. If you have the Yoast SEO plugin then the cart will work in conjunction with this, just modifying the meta description and title for cart related pages. Another important update for the WordPress Child Themes.Previously it was necessary to create modified versions of two of the theme files for the ECT Child Theme and now one of those is no longer necessary, with only a very minor modification necessary for the remaining file. If you update the child theme (which is recommended as there have been several improvements) then either remove the header.php file in the child theme or delete the child theme entirely and copy it again. You can find the child themes in the wp-content/themes directory. The Dynamic Home Page system is now available for the WordPress Child Themes, (where previously it was only available for the ECT themes). Using this system you can create an impressive home page just using WordPress features and in very little time at all.
