Is it possible to have the "Out of Stock" notice bring up the "Email me when back in stock" window without showing the number of products in stock on the customers pages? I.e. with Stock Management turned OFF, I uncheck the "Sell Button" and instead of a simple "Out of Stock" text showing, the "Email me when back in stock" window shows up in its place.

Hi, I don't think that's a feature, but you might make a post in the suggestions forum because it seems like it should be.
I have a few ideas of a possible workaround, but I will need to investigate over the next few days.
Thanks,
David

Is it possible to turn stock management ON but not show it on the product and detail pages?

Hi, sure, you can just exclude "instock" from your layout settings - Assuming you are using css layouts.
$detailpagelayout='navigation, checkoutbutton, productimage, productid, manufacturer, sku, productname, discounts, instock, description, listprice, price, quantity, currency, dateadded, options, addtocart, previousnext, emailfriend, reviews, socialmedia';

You could also use css - there is a list of classes here - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/css-layouts.asp#product

Post back if you need more help with it.

I've been trying to get the "Email me when back in stock" window to work per below.

I've added to includes.php, turned stock management on, tested one product by putting "0" products available. when I clicked on the "Back Order" button, it just comes up with text. How to get the email option to show up?

Hi Charlotte

If you have the line $notifybackinstock=TRUE; in your includes file then on the out of stock item(s) you should see a message saying Notify when back in stock. Once clicked on that should bring up the small popup for customers to submit their email address to be notified when back in stock.

Once you change the stock level the customer will receive an automated email to advise that the product is now available.
