Is it possible for the time changing to a new date would empty a shopping cart? We received the following email from a shopper who was shopping around midnight PST last night.

To: xxxx@xxxxx.com
Subject: On line order
I watched your video this weekend and wanted to support your business. It took a long time going through your on line store and I had over $100 in my shopping cart. When the time changed to midnight, it erased my entire cart!

I am so frustrated that I lost all my entire order after spending so much time going through each category. I felt compelled to send you this note so that you can change that glitch on your website. Needless to say, I am not taking the time again to shop.

Very frustrated almost customer.

Hi Kevin, I am guessing it was just a coincidence that it was midnight when the cart contents were lost, unless you, or the host have something running that we don't know about.
One of the reasons customers lose contents is the cart switching back and forth between www and non www versions of the url, and this can happen with https and non https as well.

Do you have any directives set to force one version of this so issues don't occur?

In addition to the above, it could also be application pool processes spinning down, scheduled recycling, or a session timeout caused by a period of user inactivity. Your system administrator can dissect the IIS log file to examine this in more detail.
