I have made a copy of the theme page-static.php, made the changes and I am still getting home page brands at the bottom. How do I change wording and remove brands. I tried it on both the original and copy pages. (knowing that the original might get overwritten. I just want it to work.)

Did you change the home page to use this new page-static? It looks like it is set to use the dynamic home page. This is mentioned here under section 5.

Hi LadyM
I see why the homepage brands in the Customizer was not displaying the Uncategorized option. I've fixed this now so you should be able to select "Uncategorized" to remove the brands and I've updated the themes in your site. If there are still problems with the home page, please let me know.
