I am running Ecommerce Plus PHP v7.2.6 and on this last update my sort order no longer displays the latest items I have added to my website. Even though I have it set to display by last date added. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

Thank you,
Eddie

Do you use the side or top filter?
If so, do you offer the "sort" option there?

It could be that you have clicked that and it sets a cooking that controls the sort.

Hi David, Can you please clarify? Where do I locate the side and top filter?

Thank you,
Eddie

Hi Eddie
The settings for those are in the admin main settings page. But try with a browser that you don't normally use to view the page. The sort order is the "default" but can be overridden by the product filters as David mentions.

Hi Vince,

I tried using another browser and nothing. It seems the sort just stopped working. It will not adjust using any of the setting I use. I added the recommended option to the cart. Will that cause the issue?

Thank you,
Eddie

Hi Eddie, looking at the site in your signature, it does not look like you are using any of the sort filters on the site, so I expect that's not the issue.
But what do you have set in the admin main settings for the "Default Product Sort Order:"?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I've set it to date added a few years back since my customers like to use the "New Loose Gear" link in the navigation.

Thank you,
Eddie

Ok, the next thing I would do is check the admin products page. When you list all products, sorted by date, are you getting what you expect there?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I don't seem to come across that feature on my product pages. How do I add that functionality in?

As far as the main settings is concerned, the functionality no longer changes the view-ability of the product from recently added to sort by SKU to sort by price, etc. It just seems to have stopped working.

I just tried to use the sort feature on the product page and received this error:

Lost connection to MySQL server during query
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function fetch_assoc() on boolean in /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/vsadmin/inc/incfunctions.php:1858 Stack trace: #0 /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/vsadmin/inc/incproducts.php(148): ect_fetch_assoc(false) #1 /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/vsadmin/inc/incproductbody2.php(40): dofilterresults(1) #2 /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/vsadmin/inc/incproducts.php(571): include('/home/ortizwork...') #3 /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/products.php(648): include('/home/ortizwork...') #4 {main} thrown in /home/ortizworks/public_html/worldofonesixth.com/vsadmin/inc/incfunctions.php on line 1858

Hi Eddie
I think maybe it would be easier to send me the site FTP login to my email (vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com) and I'll sort this out. Can you also let me know how to recreate this error in your last post as I don't get that when looking at your site.

Hi Eddie
I think I see the problem. In the includes.php file there was the parameter...
$orsortby=13;
...which will override the sort order. I've commented this out and the sort is now by the date added.
