As a bricks-and-mortar store with an online shop, we have several items that are too large or fragile to ship, but that can be bought in store and/or have a truck delivery arranged.

It would therefore be really useful for us to have an option for an "Available in Store" button to replace Add to Cart / Quick Buy, that can be ticked on an individual product basis, like the Sell Button or Back Order Available - but we don't like to untick/tick these as it implies the item isn't available in store right now.

One workaround we use to prevent online purchase is to set the weight above our max shipping weight, but this means that the customer only gets the message when they try to checkout - we do have have text on the relevant pages to say shipping isn't available, but of course not everyone sees/reads it.

I wonder if this would be useful for others with items they can't or prefer not to ship?

Hi Wharf

You can use the will pick up from store option. To do so add this to your includes.php file -
Also the text here can be changed as necessary.

$willpickuptext="Will Pickup"; for PHP of
willpickuptext="Will Pickup" for ASP

If there's a cost of picking up from your location you may use the following in the includes.php file. Set to zero if there is no charge.

$willpickupcost=1.32; for PHP
willpickupcost=1.32 for ASP

Hi Steve, I don't think that's what the original post is asking for.
More about how to replace the add to cart button on some products, with a message.

You might try creating a product option for example called “Available in store only” and force the selection with no default then only allocate to those products.

You could then use the will pickup on checkout.

Thanks for your replies.

I think we could use your suggestion John as a workaround for now, thanks
