Do PHP updaters work with the wordpress version as well?

I just purchased the php updater and I am trying to install/update an old wordpress ECT script I bought around 2013, but I get a mysql error:

Yes, the updaters work with the WordPress version also but the problem here is that you are still using an old-style database connection and that has changed in PHP. There are more details here...

But saying that, things have moved on a bit since 2013 and if you need some help converting an old ECT WordPress site to the new method (which is compatible with all WordPress themes, etc) then can you send me an email with the site FTP and WordPress login details to vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com

I was able to modify myself db_conn_open.php script, and ECT is working correctly now.

I have been using ECT since 2003, and love the script and customer service.
