The cart is no longer sending confirmation e-mails to the customer, and I am not getting them sent to me either. The admin is set to send an e-mail to my company address every time an order is placed

Hi Becky
Could you possibly try adding this parameter to your includes.php file...
$debugmode=TRUE;
Then try a test order which should kick off an email and with that parameter you should get debug output of why the email failed. Then can you copy and paste that here.
Another way around this though might simply be to let your host know you are having problems with emails and to check the SMTP server.

$debug did nothing and the host said because it is a custom cart they cannot check the SMTP server. How can I check it?

Hi Becky, be sure you do not have $debugmode=TRUE; further down in your includes, set as $debugmode=FALSE: perhaps
Also make sure, after adding that to your includes, that you upload it to the vsadmin folder on the server.

At that point, place a test order and you should get the debug info.

As for the host, it seems odd. Maybe just hit them again with something like "I am unable to send emails from my website, can you check the SMTP server?"
Leave out the fact it's a shopping cart perhaps.

Hi Becky
If you have the $debugmode parameter set and there are any problems when sending email, you will see any messages displayed on the page you are viewing.
But I agree with David and you should maybe just push your host as to why you can't send email without mentioning the cart. They can and should check that for you.
