I dont want to use this logo: https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_xpressCheckoutsm.gif I would like to select my own paypal logo, more square and modern looking. Am I not able to change where that image comes from?

It sounds like you are still using the old PayPal Express setup and for quite a while now everything has moved to the new PayPal Checkout. It is really, really recommended that you enable that (there is a wizard in the ECT Admin -> Payment Providers page that only takes a minute) and disable the old systems like PayPal Standard, Express and Direct. When you have PayPal Checkout enabled there is a setting for the rectangular button shape.
