Client received a notice that the USPS API will be retired in Jan. 2026. I'm sure the current version of the cart is updated, but is it possible she has a separate account with the post office that is nothing to do with the cart?
Web Tools API platform will be retired on January 25, 2026.

Vince, we’re receiving repeated USPS warning emails like the one below.
On the USPS Admin page, our PHP v7.8.7 cart is currently configured with a 12-digit Username / Consumer Key value.
Do you foresee any changes we’ll need to make before 1/25/2026?
Web Tools API user,
As published in the February 6, 2025 Industry Alert, the USPS Web Tools API platform will be retired on January 25, 2026. To avoid service disruptions, migrate now to the new USPS APIs. The functional equivalents of the Web Tools APIs are now available in the USPS API Catalog: USPS APIs Developer Portal.
Get Started with the Migration
To begin migrating your Web Tools APIs, start with the Getting Started guide on the USPS Developer Portal. For additional resources including job aids, mappings, and FAQs, visit Web Tools Documentation & Updates. Integrators using the remaining Web Tools APIs should begin migrating ahead of the January 25, 2026 deadline, complete our Migration Feedback Form, and join our biweekly migration webinar where questions and concerns can be addressed:
Next Session: August 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET Webinar ID: 161 859 0229 Passcode: XXXXXX Webinar: Join Here Label APIs Migration Deadline
Please note that the Web Tools Label APIs migration deadline was July 14, 2024. Integrators still using Label APIs should migrate ASAP and are subject to losing access at any time. Vince, following the instructions on the USPS Admin page of the cart, on the USPS Add App web page, under APIs, we selected Public Access I and generated a new 18-digit USPS Consumer Key (Username) and 24-digit Secret (Password). The process of accessing the USPS Add App page was frustrating- USPS verification codes kept arriving so late that each session would time out. We finally got through by retrying at 5:00 AM and watching closely to grab the code the moment the email arrived. When we pasted the 24-digit Consumer Secret into the Password field, and the 18-digit Consumer Key into the Account # field (shown below), the cart returned an error saying one of the values was too long and reverted to the old configuration. We also tried pasting our new USPS Business Account name and online login password into those fields, but then received an XML error when attempting to calculate shipping at checkout. Could someone please clarify exactly what values should go into each of the fields shown here, and whether Retail or Commercial pricing should be selected? Thanks again for your help with this. For reference, here's what our USPS credentials page looks like: Incidentally, our original setup with the Username / Consumer Key value in the top field- in use since 2011- is now returning a The zip / postal code is invalid error when calculating USPS shipping at checkout. This issue appears unrelated to our attempted update, as it has been occurring throughout the past week.

It looks like our original USPS setup (configured in 2011) no longer works, so I’d greatly appreciate any help troubleshooting. On the USPS Admin page, I’ve tried updating with the new credentials:
- Pasting the 24-digit Consumer Secret into the Password field
- Pasting the 18-digit Consumer Key into the Account # field
When I do this, the system throws a database error ' Data too long for column 'uspsAccount' at row 1' I’ve attached a second screenshot of our USPS setup page, in case anyone can see any issues. Has anyone run into this, or figured out where these new USPS API credentials are supposed to go in the current cart integration? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Vince, the USPS Admin page displays as expected.
Can you confirm that the value for the Password field should be the 24-digit Consumer Secret, and that the Account # field should be the 18-digit Consumer Key, both copied from the USPS credentials page in my earlier screenshot?
As I mentioned, when I pasted these values and click Submit I get a 'Data too long for column 'uspsAccount' at row 1' error and the page reverts to its previous configuration.

Thanks for this, Vince.
Per your instructions, USPS is now working again, using the following values on the USPS Admin page of the cart:
Username / Consumer Key: the 18-digit USPS Consumer Key
Password: the 24-digit USPS Consumer Secret
Account #: the USPS user name we chose when we enrolled (like myonlinestore).
As expected, toggling the Pricing: box between Retail and Commercial immediately changes the USPS rates charged at checkout. An initial check suggests that the lower-priced Commercial option is still roughly $5 higher than the discounted rates we receive when purchasing labels through the PayPal / ShipStation integration.
Once we receive more USPS orders with the new setup, we’ll check whether a hard-wired discount adjustment will be needed in our includes file.
Again, your help is much appreciated!
