I have the below options.
Not sure what corresoponds to what?
Is Shipper Number the Account Number?, etc...

UPS Rate Code:
UPS Rate Code Password:
UPS Shipper Number:
UPS Access Key:
Use Negotiated Rates:

I assume UPS Shipping Labels are printed from UPS Online Account?
Is the Customer Shipping Info passed to UPS Online Account when printing labels?

Hi, the shipper number is your six digit UPS account number.
This feature is to get shipping rates for your orders, no customer info is sent to UPS.
This is not a tool for creating shipping labels.
Many folks here use Ship Station (for shipment label creation) and the cart is setup to integrate with them.
There is a feature to export data into UPS Worldship software and update orders with tracking numbers, but it's quite a bit of work when compared to using Ship Station.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Sorry, shipping setup and capabilities are throwing me a bit from what I remember from earlier versions.

If I understand what you are saying correctly.

  • The only thing ECT Shipping Methods do is provide the customer a shipping charge amount that gets added to thier order?

  • When the ECT Store Order is packed in a box. The "STORE" Employee has to go to, "Lets Say" UPS Online, log into thier UPS account, create a shippment, pay for shippment, then create/print a shipping label. Correct?

  • Your statement regarding ShipStation, "the cart is setup to integrate with them" I need clarification on what this means vs setting up UPS, USPS, FEDEX, or any other Shipper in the Admin Panel. Is Ship Station ECT's prefered method of Shipping Integration? What does it do differently vs using existing UPS/FEDEX Shipping Accounts...

If Ship Station is the prefered method then I will setup an account.

Sorry for asking for clarity again...
lots of changes from earlier days...

Thanks

The only thing ECT Shipping Methods do is provide the customer a shipping charge amount that gets added to thier order? Yes, but also allows you to recalculate shipping charges in the admin (if needed).

When the ECT Store Order is packed in a box. The "STORE" Employee has to go to, "Lets Say" UPS Online, log into thier UPS account, create a shippment, pay for shippment, then create/print a shipping label. Correct? Yes, you need to use some shipping service to create a shipping label and ship the order.

Your statement regarding ShipStation, "the cart is setup to integrate with them" I need clarification on what this means vs setting up UPS, USPS, FEDEX, or any other Shipper in the Admin Panel. You should just go to Ship Station to learn more https://www.shipstation.com - but really it brings all of the shipping carriers in together and allows you to create shipping labels much easier than going to UPS directly. It will also update your orders with tracking info and move them to shipped status.

Thanks,
David
