It is still the same client from Maryland. Today I registered for her using my email. I received the following information from USPS

For Company: MBaker Artwork
Your Web Tools USERID is *****
Your Web Tools Password is *****

I registered on page https://maureen-baker.com/vsadmin/adminuspsmeths.php?admin=3 first with UserID - then with Password, in both cases I am getting the error message "Authorization failure. Maybe username and/or password is incorrect.

In the page to set the connection to USPS https://maureen-baker.com/vsadmin/adminuspsmeths.php?admin=3 I can only find a field to set the username, is there some other place I have to set the password?

Hi Anne
On this page here...
https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/usps.asp
It mentions you need to register on this page here...
https://registration.shippingapis.com/
Did you do that? And did you receive an email from them which will have the user id you need for USPS shipping rates? The one you are using is your usps.com account login.

Vince, I registered at the site you mentioned, got the email with the following information

For Company: MBaker Artwork
Your Web Tools USERID is *****
Your Web Tools Password is *****

I tried a test order with USERID and am getting the same error message as before "Authorization Failure. Perhaps username and/or password is incorrect.

Hi Anne
In that email you receive it says something about replying to the email to go into production mode. Is that in there? Have you done that?

Vince, it says the following:

2. API Access Process

Once registration is complete and Web Tools credentials are generated (see above section), access must be requested and approved to use Web Tools APIs. Each API requires separate permissions and approval before access is granted. It will be important to specify which APIs you intend to use and how (i.e., the business use case/justification) when requesting access. If you are using a third-party software or vendor that necessitates Web Tools credentials (i.e., USERID and Password) and access to Web Tools APIs, you must specify the name of the software/vendor when requesting access. There are separate steps to request access depending on which APIs you intend to use. Access to the majority of Web Tools APIs can be requested in the next section. The approval process for Tracking and Shipping Label APIs is separate. Reference those sections below for details. To expedite approval, include all required information detailed in the below sections. For any questions or concerns regarding an access request contact webtools@usps.gov.

I have been reading on in this email,at first thought the script had it all covered. Now will see how I can sort this out.

Hi Anne
Is this the email you received in response to registering on this page?
https://registration.shippingapis.com/
It's just this...
Once registration is complete and Web Tools credentials are generated (see above section), access must be requested and approved to use Web Tools APIs.
...looks like what I would expect for the new USPS OAuth API

Vince, this morning I was still quite convinced that together with help from LadyM we would be able to resolve this. But now something ugly hit the fan!

As the mail from USPS with username and password mentioned:
quote:
To request access, send an email to webtools@usps.gov and specify in the subject line “Web Tools API Access Request”. Within the body of the email include the following information:
- USPS Web Tools USERID (reference USERID above):

I did this and also mentioned in my email that Iam using Ecommercetools

The answer was:

quote:
To request access, send an email to webtools@usps.gov and specify in the subject line “Web Tools API Access Request”. Within the body of the email include the following information:
- USPS Web Tools USERID (reference USERID above):
- USPS Mailer ID (MID):
o Note: A mailer identification number (MID) is a 6 or 9-digit number assigned to a customer through the USPS Business Customer Gateway (BCG). Please refer to the following links for help.
• https://postalpro.usps.com/mailing/mailer-id

Neither I nor Lady M know what this MID is and we both did not understand the information in both links.

But I just sent the email with what I knew and there came another email

quote:
Hello,

Please utilize the new USPS API Platform at the Developer Portal, not Web Tools APIs. We are in the process of retiring Web Tools APIs. See more here.

Thank You,

USPS API Functional Team

Visit us at: www.usps.com/webtools

So, went to register with the user and pw from the USPS registration.

Now it states username and/or password are wrong.

I am really not able to resolve this problem for the client.

Who might know how to fix this mess?

Hi Anne
Is there any update on this? Did it get resolved with the new API login details?
