Client Login Discount - how to exclude product

Hi. On my site oldgloryminiatures.com, customers can pay for a yearly membership to which they receive a 40% discount off each purchase (naturally when they are logged in)

The company has a few other sites they would like us to take over the selling of product (as the current sites are poorly designed and not using ecommerce templates software), but they don't want those products to be sold at discount. We'd like to be able to add the new products to our website - is there a way to exclude products from having the 40% discount applied when someone is logged in with their client login/membership?

Or

Do we need to create a substore on the main site to sell the other company product and if so, how the heck do I set that up and how complicated is it? There are 4 other niche businesses they own that they want us to take over, I'd prefer not to have to do substores, so if there is any way to have products not given the 40% discount that clients get when they are logged in would be preferable.

Any help? Any addon's to purchase that already do this?

Thanks,

Claudia

In each product admin there is a list of exemption options, one being Product Discount Exempt. However, I am not sure if that applies to discounts for logged in customers.

Hi Marshall,

I tried that, it doesn't work for the client login discount.

Thanks for thinking of it though, appreciate it!

Hi Vincent,

I've added that to the includes file, but what does it do? I mean, I understand it says nowholesalediscounts, but we don't do any wholesale discounts.

When I create the client login, in the actions box I select Percentage Discount and set it to 40%. That then is applied to all products that they purchase.

There are some products that are to be exempt from receiving the product discount so that's what I'm trying to figure out how to do.

Is there a nopercentagediscount=TRUE that would work? If so, then how do I set up the new products so that when someone with the client login (we call it an Army Membership), so when they login they don't get a 40% discount on products that we don't want to have the discount applied but they would get a 40% discount on the products we want to be sold at discount.

Thanks,

Claudia

In the clients account, you can flag them as a wholesale customer, then the exemption should work.
Of course you need to make sure all of your products have the wholesale pricing filled in.
If it's not, you can do this really fast using the csv utility.

Thanks,
David

Dave & Vince,

Thanks for your input! We are going to switch over to wholesale pricing for the Army Memberships so that we can have products not included for the discount.

Thank you!!
