I've been using ecommerce templates for a long time, so have encountered most things over the years. I'm using on my first WordPress site and I would like to know what is controlling how pages are opened.

For example, when I want to open the cart, it wants to go to the sitename.com/cart vs sitename.com/index.php/cart

Pages are created all using short codes and they open, but when i try to go to another page it goes to sitename.com/cart vs sitename.com/index.php/cart

same for each of the files, what do I need to update so it will go to sitename.com/index.php/cart for example

Could you explain a bit more maybe as to why you would want to have a URL like that and it may help find a solution for you.

so when you open a page in wordpress unless Im doing it totally wrong it opens https://site.com/index.php/postname or pagename.

here are some examples

https://americanbassanglers.com/news/index.php/2026/01/15/jonathan-chavis-claims-victory-at-oconee/

In the case of post, it also uses the dates to open, in the case above WP was installed in a news directory so when wp calls to this page, it also shows the date

in my exact case if I go to the products page using links from the cart or others it goes to https://bacusa.org/products/?cat=Membership

Instead of going to https://bacusa.org/index.php/products/?cat=Membership

for example go to https://bacusa.org/index.php/proddetail/?prod=BAC%20Membership

Then click in Home it should go to https://bacusa.org/index.php/categories/ but its going to https://bacusa.org/categories/

the pages in WP are all created using shortcode as described
