Hi All,

I've just tried and failed (twice), to update from v7.8.8 to 7.9.5.

I backed everything up, ran updatestore.php, then uploaded the new vsadmin files, overwriting the existing ones, followed by the cart js and css files.

The result was that all appeared well apart from in the admin section the summary of recent customers and orders was empty, with data appearing as normal in the Order Stats and Top Sellers section. Also, and possibly importantly, the "new version available" text in the top right of the admin screen just sits at "Checking for new versions..." as if it can't call out to check.

I restored and tried again with a newly downloaded updater.zip on got exactly the same result.

Could anyone advise if the procedure has changed for this particular update? Or where I could be going wrong? I'm a relatively old hand at this and have been successful on many previous updates.

Hi Tim, it may have simply been a caching issues.
Perhaps try viewing in a different browser after update.
CTRL>f5 will usually force a hard refresh.

Check the dates on the server to be sure all files in the vsadmin, with the exception of db_conn_open and includes, all should have the current date.

Thanks for your prompt replies.

I tried the old Ctrl F5 routine, then a different browser (Chrome instead of my usual Firefox), then a different machine, and the results were the same.

I have reverted back to v7.8.8 now and all appears to be OK.

The site lives on NetHosted servers and has been with them for many years due to their excellent support.

I have screenshots of the Admin home screen before and after upgrading if they'd be of any help, but would need to redact info if sharing on the forum.

Re-downloaded the updater and tried again.

All now OK, no further issues.
