Is there a way to flag certain customers besides IP? For example, by their email? We have problematic customers that we would rather not ship to. I realize there are all kinds of manual ways to do this, but in a store that does many sales, this is the most inefficient and often a waste of time.

Hi, it does require a small hack, but we insert the client account notes on the customers order.
When we have a customer that has ongoing issues, or special requirements, it shows on their order.
We also match orders based on email, name and IP address in case they come in with a different account.

Here is an example of where we have in our admin... The green area is client notes and the icons at the top are matched orders.
Then we have address and IP validation tools we use. Much of what you see there is normally hidden unless we want to view the address validation stuff. That is from a company Melissa data - they are the best in address validation and as you can see, we also get a ton of other data that helps with fraud protection.

This is inserted with a single include line that needs to be added with each update.
All of the code is in a separate page, so updates are fairly easy.

My code is .asp, but could likely be adapted to .php
Really some of this would be a good feature to have in the cart, so a post in the suggestions forum might be helpful.
I think pulling in client notes would be helpful and perhaps Vince could add in a call to an include page, that if it exists, it pulls in custom code for use to insert without needing to updated that in the incorders script.

Thanks,
David

Why not use the bad_emails option in the includes?

$bad_emails=array("test@email.com","test2@email.com","sample@email.tst","testing@example.com");

Indeed if you just want to block them based on email, Marshall's suggestion would work just fine.
Although personally I think it would be nice to have that (and almost all parameters) in the admin main settings.

Thanks,
David

Thanks Marshall, thats a good way.

But Im trying to automate things a bit and be able to step away from work more, so it would be nice if it was in the admin, so anyone here could do it.

Hi Steven, I can probably work this up on my .php test site and then share the code.
What database are you on?
Thanks,
David

Go in your admin dashboard and scroll down almost to the bottom of the page and let me know what you have under "Debug Info"

for example - mine shows
Server Software: Microsoft-IIS/10.0
VBScript Version: VBScript 5.8
SQL Server Version: Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (RTM-CU32-GDR) (KB5065222) - 15.0.4445.1 (X64) Aug 13 2025 11:07:18 Co...

Thanks,
David
