Hi everyone. It has been years since I updated my site, but decided it was time to go responsive. There are many elements that I have never dealt with, so if this is a stupid question I apologize in advance. I have the Spirit responsive template and I cannot figure out how to "edit" or configure the flexslider. How is this edited? I am using Microsoft Expression Web 4.0.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Ken

Do you mean just changing the default images or something else?

Found settings in index.php, missed it the first time. More questions may follow and I experiment.

OK, here is a question. I would like to reduce the maximum height of the images in the slider. Do I just change the images or do I need to change something in the flexslider.css as well?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

Hi Ken

You should just need to adjust the height of the images, you shouldn't need to touch the css for that. Just bear in mind that it works much better when all the slider images use the same dimensions.

Andy I wanted to thank you for your help with the slider, it has made a world of difference. I would like to ask something however, and that is: is it possible to make the entire slider, or individual pictures within it, "clickable", directing to either a specific item or a category? This should be my last question, hopefully any way.

As always your software remains the best bargain for ecommerce on the web, thank you for your continued development!

Sure, as it just a stylized bulleted list you can add links

<ul class="slides">
<li> <img src="/images/image1.jpg"></li>
</ul>

would be

<ul class="slides">
<li><a href="mypage.php"> <img src="/images/image1.jpg"> </a></li>
</ul>

Hello again . . . where (css?) can I set the display time for the images? Can different images have different display times or is it universal?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

There isn't a feature to change the slide timing of the images I'm afraid.

Hi Ken

I don't use Flexslider but this is a possible solution to adjusting the speed of the slider.

Look for the following entry in the [blue]flexslider-custom.js[/blue] file and change the value in red
[blue]slideshowSpeed: [red]7000[/red], //Integer: Set the speed of the slideshow cycling, in milliseconds[/blue]

7000 milliseconds being 7 seconds

Thanks to V45 for pointing to the js file, there was a boat load of user options in there, so now I feel like the master of the js.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get back to something I had not done much with for years, your kindness in sharing your knowledge is really great.
